Are You Using Panthenol the Right Way?

Are You Using Panthenol the Right Way?

Panthenol has a reputation for skin recovery, repair, and calming sensitive skin - so much so that it's become the go-to "pharmacy pick" for many people, often reached for straight off the pharmacy shelf as an ointment. Social media is full of ways to work panthenol ointment into a daily routine, and plenty of people use it as an everyday skincare step.

Why an Ointment Isn't a Skincare Product

Panthenol ointments sold at pharmacies are drug products. They're formulated to treat a specific condition, not designed for everyday skincare use - a fundamentally different purpose from the start. Many of these ointments rely on ingredients like lanolin, white petrolatum, and paraffin. Used long-term, these can put a strain on the skin barrier or contribute to clogged pores, irritation, and inflammation - not exactly what you want in a daily step.

So we started asking a different question: could effective panthenol be made safe enough to use every day, without those concerning ingredients? What if every cream and serum in your routine could become a panthenol product? That question is where SkinStandard's development work began - and it led to a stabilized, high-purity dexpanthenol formula at an ultra-high 75% concentration.

How It's Built to Solve That Problem

Pump-adjustable strength. Mix in as much or as little as your skin needs - just one pump into your body lotion, cream, or serum is enough to add a meaningful dose, so you can dial the concentration up or down based on how your skin feels.

Absorption-focused formulation. Nano-emulsified squalane is blended in so the 75% concentration absorbs quickly instead of sitting on the surface.

A skin-friendly pH. Citric acid brings the formula's pH close to mildly acidic, which helps minimize irritation potential.

75% Dexpanthenol Add-on Serum

Panthenol you can trust every single day - no longer just a pharmacy staple, but a formulation-lab-grade addition to your routine.

Tip. When skin feels extremely dry or sensitive, mix one pump into your nighttime cream to build an extra-thorough moisture barrier before bed.

The Data Behind the Formula

Hydration and barrier recovery. A single application raised hydration by 122.3% at 24 hours and cut transepidermal water loss (TEWL) by 30.1% by the next morning. After 14 days of continued use, deep hydration rose 8.8% and barrier recovery rose 23.1%.

Soothing response. On freshly irritated skin, the formula showed a 78.4% immediate soothing-recovery rate versus 18.3% natural recovery on untreated skin, with no adverse reactions reported during the test period. A separate primary irritation test on sensitive skin scored 0.00, the lowest possible.

Clinical testing conducted by Pderma Skin Clinical Research Institute, Oct 20-Nov 27, 2025, on 22 adult women. Individual results vary.
